55% Of UK Businesses Have No 5G Access

New research has revealed that over half (55%) of UK businesses do not have access to 5G

With combined data from Ofcom and the Office for National Statistics, communications experts Excalibur Comms have revealed over half of UK businesses have no access to 5G.

The 5G accessibility was calculated by noting the number of businesses in each region and the 5G success rate of that area. A 5G connectivity score was then calculated by averaging the number of tests with the overall success rate - 100 as the top score.

The highest rated location for 5G accessibility was the City of London (NW) - a score of 100. However, the score drops greatly in other locations.

Worst accessibility to 5G by area

  • Long Eaton (Nottingham) - 1.1
  • Plymouth - 1.1
  • Molehill Green (Essex) - 1.6
  • Tilbury (Essex) - 2.7

5G connectivity causes video calls to be closer to real-time performance and provides a 100x increase in traffic capacity and network efficiency. A fast internet connection is therefore hugely advantageous to modern businesses.
